Getting Started
- Create a free account and verify your email.
- Upload your mixed track (WAV, AIFF, FLAC, or MP3, up to 200MB).
- ToneForge automatically analyzes and masters your audio.
- View before/after charts and preview the result.
- Download your mastered file (Pro and Studio plans).
How Mastering Works
- Our engine analyzes 30+ audio metrics including loudness, dynamics, spectrum, and stereo field.
- Based on the analysis, adaptive mastering decisions are made for your specific track.
- No presets or templates -- every track is treated individually.
- The processing chain includes EQ, compression, stereo adjustment, limiting, and loudness normalization.
- A QA validator ensures the output meets professional quality standards before delivery.
Understanding Your Results
- Waveform charts show the before/after dynamic shape of your audio.
- Loudness charts display LUFS integrated, short-term, and true peak comparisons.
- Spectrum charts compare the frequency balance before and after mastering.
- Metrics cards show key values like LUFS, true peak, dynamic range, and stereo width.
- The mastering explanation tells you exactly what processing was applied and why.
Downloads & File Expiry
- Mastered files are available for download during your active subscription.
- A secure, cryptographically signed download link is generated on demand.
- Download links expire after the configured retention period.
- After expiry, all audio files are automatically deleted for your privacy.
- Your analysis data, charts, and project metadata remain accessible.
- You can re-master a track by uploading it again at any time.
Supported File Formats
- WAV (recommended) -- Uncompressed, highest quality input for mastering.
- FLAC -- Lossless compression, excellent quality with smaller file sizes.
- AIFF -- Apple's uncompressed format, fully supported.
- MP3 -- Supported but not recommended; lossy compression limits mastering quality.
- Upload limit: 200MB per file.
- For best results: 44.1kHz or higher sample rate, 16-bit or 24-bit depth.
Plans & Billing
- Free: Upload, analyze, and preview -- no full-quality downloads.
- Pro (9.90 CHF/mo): Full WAV downloads, email delivery, 20 masters per day.
- Studio (14.90 CHF/mo): Priority queue, reference mode, 50 masters per day.
- All billing is handled securely through PayPal subscriptions.
- Cancel anytime -- access continues until the end of your billing period.
- No hidden fees. No annual commitment required.
Security & Privacy
- All file transfers use encrypted HTTPS connections.
- Audio files are processed in isolated environments and deleted automatically.
- Download links are cryptographically signed with expiration and access limits.
- Passwords are stored using bcrypt hashing -- we never store plaintext passwords.
- We do not share, sell, or use your audio for any purpose beyond the mastering service.
Troubleshooting
- Upload fails? Check your file format (WAV, FLAC, AIFF, MP3) and size (max 200MB).
- Processing stuck? Most tracks complete in 2-5 minutes. Refresh the page to check status.
- Download not working? Ensure your subscription is active and the file hasn't expired.
- Audio sounds wrong? Try uploading a higher-quality source file (WAV or FLAC).
- Can't log in? Use the Forgot Password link to reset your credentials.
